Horse Racing Betting Guide

Horse Racing is still very much part of the UK’s sporting calendar. Although, taken over as the most popular sports in terms of online betting with football betting now the market leader, it is still loved by many betting punters. As with everything over the last few years, there has been a massive increase in coverage on the television.

The Cheltenham Festival and The Grand National remain the big two meetings with the whole nation going betting crazy when they come around.

Here are a few of the big race meetings throughout the year, in the UK.
The Cheltenham Festival

This is the main event of the year when it comes to National Hunt horse racing and everyone feels the buzz.

The meeting is always on in mid March and if you want Cheltenham tickets, you best book in advance as the crowds are huge every year.

The Gold Cup, The Champion Hurdle and The Queen Mother Champion Chase are just three of the best races to look out for.

The Grand National

The Grand National is a race where everyone in the country it seems, stops what they’re doing and places a bet. Literally, the nation stops while the race is in running, until their horse goes crashing out of course.

Early April is the time for The Grand National and Aintree is where the most prestigious National Hunt race you can win is hosted.

The Epsom Derby

The biggest flat race in the world and they don’t come any more prestigious. While not quite as much a betting frenzy as The Grand National, it certainly catches the attention and everyone watches it.

The first weekend in June is the time for The Epsom Derby.

Royal Ascot

Royal Ascot is where everyone makes an extra special effort to dress up, especially the ladies with their fancy hats! It’s another great few days of horse racing and the action gets going Mid June.
